Just back from my Marlin Tournament in East Cape Mexico and I finally had some time to work on upgrades to the new Salt Patrol Titus-Will Ford F-350 Super Duty truck.
The Truck came from Titus-Will Ford-Toyota- Scion in Tacoma with all the bells and whistles so I didn’t need to add to much to her. Still after spending all the hours on the road traveling to fishing locations there were a few upgrades I considered can’t do without for the new truck.
First had to have a bed liner spayed in. I carry to many coolers and spare everything in the bed and don’t like to have it sliding around in the bed of the truck. Next came a truck bed cover. Having been through full size canopies, tool boxes and bed covers I spend more few hours looking for the right fit for the new truck. I wanted a bed cover, I had to many issues with size canopies getting broken into as dirt bags can look inside and see rods etc. I also want to be able to remove it without having to have 2 buddies over to help lift it off so I can use my truck as a truck. It also need to be strong with a tough locking system.
After lots of research I contacted Peragon Retractable Aluminum Truck Bed Covers. They make a strong easily to remove cover with a tough locking system. They can also paint match your truck or you can go with a standard black, white or Mossy Oak camo pattern. I ordered mine custom painted to match the Ruby Red on my F-350. The cover was easy to install and works quite well. When you open it, the panels bi fold up for easy removal and it weighs less than 40 pounds if I want to lift it out to allow full use of the bed for transporting items. I can lock my coolers and extra gear inside. Best of all it great to be able to look over top when backing the boat down tight ramps in the dark.
Next I ordered off-road lights from my friends at Rigid Industries LED lighting. On the back under the rear bumper I installed two D-2 diffused Led lights. These are great for backing up and throw a ton a light back behind the truck and under the boat tires making maneuvering on those dark mornings at the ramp much easier. On the front I went with a Rigid 20inch E model light bar combination of flood and spot lights. This bar has 40 LEDS lights in it and is brighter and draws less amps then and standard off-road lights on the market. This is the same version of the light I use onboard Salt Patrol to run in the dark. Trust we when I tell you it will light up a ¼ mile without an issue! I also ordered Rigid’s custom mount for the grill of my F-350 Super Duty which’s mounts in the from bumper with no holes to drill.
Next it was a call to my friends at 4 Wheel Parts in Tacoma for a set of Air Bags. Pulling 10,000lb boat with lots of tuna coolers can put a load on it. They installed a set of air bags with a remote control so I can level my new truck under any load condition. The wireless remote is great after hooking up the trailer I just step and put air into the bags until I have the truck level. This is a great aftermarket accessory.
Backup camera is another great accessory, I didn’t need to install one as the new Titus-Will Super Duty had one built in, great addition and makes hooking up the trailer breeze. The New Super Duty also can remember your trailer settings. It has a built in brake controller and you can name each trailer. I have one brake setting for my boat, one for my camping trailer brakes and one for my jet sled. Once it setup you just select what you want to tow, no having to setup the brakes each time you change rigs.
If you’re interested in a new Super Duty give my good friends at Titus-Will Ford in Tacoma (253-475-4151) a call and take a test drive. There a great dealership and can help you pick the perfect new or used tow rig for your outdoor adventure.
Stay tuned as there without a doubt be more products coming for my new Super Duty. I have shopping list I’m working on.
